About Our SchoolOverview
Angola High School is a proud partner in education with the community of Angola, Indiana. Located one mile east of downtown Angola on U.S. Highway 20, Angola High School is recognized as a leader among high schools. Students come from both a rural and small town setting with only five percent of the population being minority students. Three percent are African American students, one percent is Hispanic students and one percent is Asian students. Twenty-three percent of our students receive free or reduced lunches. As our community grows and business opportunities expand, we see continual changes in our student population. However, we are proud of the tolerance we have for diversity and positive behaviors our students have exhibited. AHS is truly a learning community, involving all students and adults.
We are very proud of our teachers, students, parents, and community members who make up our school community. Our students consistently rank above both state and national averages on standardized assessments.Welcome to our home page. It is the policy of The Metropolitan School District of Steuben County to provide equal access to all employment and educational opportunities regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, creed or ancestry, age, gender, marital status, or disability.
We are fortunate to employ some of the finest faculty members in the Midwest. Seventy-three percent of our faculty hold master’s degrees or more. The average teacher tenure is twenty-six years, and this experience shows in student achievement. Two of our teachers have authored several books on teaching strategies and are nationally recognized for their efforts. Fifteen of our faculty have presented workshops to teachers in four states in an effort to help others improve their profession. Teachers are the most important ingredient in a student’s success. We are proud to have some of the very best at AHS.
