AHS Media Center

Big things are happening at Angola High School! We are transforming our Media Center into a modernized space for our teachers and students and creating a home base for Angola University. Over the past eight months, the AHS team has been collaborating with Pulver Cove Associates to create a Media Center that meets our school community's evolving educational and social-emotional needs. Recognizing the importance of fostering connection within our school community, we are embracing the "Third Place" concept by providing a welcoming environment for gathering and engagement in our Media Center.

Crews from Michael Kinder & Sons, Inc. are working over the summer to reconfigure the Tech Nest and Media Center into a more unified space with a glass wall and repurposing an old computer lab into two small group study rooms. Sustainability is at the forefront of this project, and all but a few pieces of the original AHS library furniture and shelving are being reused in other rooms at AHS, the AMS library, and Pleasant Lake Montessori. All 10,000+ books in the AHS Media Center have been sorted, and any books deemed obsolete will be made available for students and staff to take home this fall. Other obsolete books will be sold through our outside vendor, Thriftbooks, and the funds generated from those sales will go towards student-requested resources such as vinyl records for our record player, games, puzzles, craft supplies, and recording equipment. The renovated space is expected to be ready early this fall, with a grand reopening shortly after. Stay tuned for project updates throughout the summer!
