Good morning families! What an interesting week of learning. Today's elearning day will be different than the two we had earlier this week. Students will not be on Google meets "live." Instead, teachers will be putting Google slides or assignments for the students to work through independently. Our teachers will be available until 3:00 for questions or clarifications. Thank you for your flexibility and support this week.

Carlin Park families...Our water is on. Thanks to the city for their fast action in getting the line repaired and thanks to our CP families for flexibility. We are looking forward to seeing our "Little Cardinals" back in the building tomorrow. Remember, it's Picture Day.

School pictures and fundraiser update-
Due to the Carlin Park closing and eLearning message that recently went out, we are getting a number of questions about school pictures and the fundraiser deadline. We are in process of rescheduling pictures and will send out the alternative date as soon as we know. Fundraiser packets can be returned on Thursday. Thank you!

Carlin Park families,
We were made aware that the city of Angola will be turning off water to our school at 4pm today to complete work on a water main break. As a result, we will be CLOSED with students doing eLearning using the synchronous schedule on both TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY (9/23 and 9/24). This means students will be on LIVE with their teachers for parts of the day. The schedule is attached. Additionally, there will be NO BASECAMP after school on Monday.
This applies to Carlin Park and the ELC only. All other MSD schools will be in session.

The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) requires that all students in grades 3-8 participate in three ILEARN Checkpoints in addition to the ILEARN summative assessment in the spring each year. These Checkpoints are a component of the ILEARN through-year assessment for English/Language Arts (ELA) and Math. The window for the first Checkpoint opens the last week of September.
The Checkpoints occur seasonally in fall, winter, and spring, with an optional retest opportunity window opening concurrently. Each Checkpoint has 20-25 questions to show how an individual child is performing on key skills and concepts from the Indiana Academic Standards. Families may refer to the link below, which provides a flyer for each grade level, outlining the skills and concepts that will be assessed for each Checkpoint.

MSD of Steuben County is proud to announce a historic achievement in early literacy, with the official 2024-2025 IREAD results showing a record-breaking proficiency rate. The district reached its highest-ever pass rate with an impressive 90.3% of students achieving proficiency, well above the state average of 87.3%.
