
Next up on our Staff Spotlight is Lexi Lockmiller! Mrs. Lockmiller is one of our Lower Elementary teachers. She lives on Hamilton Lake with her husband. They love to spend time outside! She enjoys going on walks around the neighborhood with her family, hanging out with friends, and spending time on the lake with boat rides and surfing! She loves being active: walking, yoga, dancing, tumbling, etc. She also LOVES to read books. Fiction is her favorite genre. Her favorite foods include DARK chocolate, jalapeno poppers, and almonds with dark chocolate. Her favorite place to be is anywhere with sunshine and a beach! This school year she is looking forward to reconnecting with Pleasant Lake students and staff as well as getting to know those who are new to Pleasant Lake! She is super excited to be a part of Pleasant Lake's journey with the new Montessori program and can't wait to see the amazing learning that occurs in the months and years to come! We are so grateful to have Mrs. Lockmiller as a part of our team!

Next up on our Staff Spotlight is our amazing music teacher! Miss Arnos is excited to begin her second year as Pleasant Lake’s music teacher! Miss A has been involved in band, choir, and theatre since she was a kid and recently performed in the Angola’s Got Talent competition! When she isn’t teaching, you can find her portraying beloved Disney characters with Once Upon a Princess or sharing the stage with her fellow Fort Wayne Civic Theatre actors! Miss Arnos is most excited to build connections with her students and create a welcoming atmosphere for everyone who enters her classroom.

Next up for our Staff Spotlight is Gina Jackson, our Kindergarten Teacher! Gina comes to us with previous Montessori experience with younger students. She loves cats and has a passion for horses and is returning to riding after a few years off. She loves being in nature and exploring the outdoors! She enjoys camping with her husband and son at the Indiana State Parks, where they bike, kayak and hike. Most weekends you can find her working on her property maintaining the garden and playing on her tractor. The upcoming school year has her excited to build a new community at Pleasant Lake with the teachers, staff, students and parents. We are so happy to have Mrs. Jackson as a part of our team!



We are excited to show off our first language curriculum area at Pleasant Lake Montessori! It's coming together beautifully!


Today we set the first Montessori classroom up with the content study and biome curriculum at Pleasant Lake Montessori! So much cleaning, painting, and moving furniture has been done, and it is awesome to see the beautiful materials getting placed!


First up on our Staff Spotlight is Abby Moon!
Mrs. Moon is one of our Lower Elementary Teachers. Outside of school, she loves to play music, both the drums and guitar! She enjoys spending time with her husband and dog by going on walks and playing outside. In the summer, she spends time on the lake with her parents. Traveling is a passion of hers because it allows her to see and do new things! She has participated in many mission trips to Jamaica. Her favorite foods are ice cream and coffee! She is looking forward to meeting new students and forming a new family with the colleagues and students at Pleasant Lake! We are so excited to have Mrs. Moon as a part of our teaching team.

STEUBEN'S GOT DRAMA!
This is an academic enrichment summer camp for students entering grades 1-8 in the fall of 2024, funded by the Literacy Coalition's 21st Century Community Learning Center grant. 8:30 - 12:30, Monday - Friday. Students will have the opportunity to engage in an exciting enrichment opportunity to experience the joy of theater and the performing arts. Every student will get the opportunity to participate, regardless of experience. This is a FREE camp for participants (no t-shirts will be given this year).
Dates are as follows:
Week 1: July 17-21 (Entering grades 5-8)
Week 2: July 24-28 (Entering grades 1-4)

STEUBEN SPACE ACADEMY!
Each week will contain different hands-on science activities. Camp is totally free and open to anyone, regardless of school. 8-Noon, Monday through Friday, Rain or Shine. Camp will be held at Selman Timberframe Pavilion at Commons Park in Angola. Program is Funded by SCLC's 21st Century Community Learning Center grants. Thanks to Angola Parks and Recreation for the space for camp again this year!

Steuben County Literacy Coalition’s K Camp
Free summer camps will be held for incoming Fall 2024 Kindergarten students. The Steuben County United Way funds these programs. Snacks will be provided. Parent transportation to/from the program is required. The program is free!

During a morning route in Pleasant Lake, a bus while stationary was backed into by a vehicle. Immediately the bus driver reported to local authorities the bus the accident, and reported no injuries to; students, the driver, or the bus. A local police officer arrived at the scene to assess the accident. Following the officer completing an accident report and confirming there were no injuries to any students, the bus was able to return to its normal morning route.
The first priority of MSD of Steuben County Schools is always the concern and safety of our students and staff. Thank you to law enforcement and MSD staff for their quick response in handling this accident.


Dear Families: To meet the needs of the many students who participate in summer school, credit recovery, and band and yearbook courses, the district will have students keep their Chromebooks once again this summer.
With all of the anticipated movement as we transition to Pleasant Lake Montessori School, Chromebooks WILL be collected from students in grades K-4 at Pleasant Lake Elementary.
